Here at Little Cosmo, we’re in love with the creatively designed kids boutique brand, Wolf & Rita. Here’s everything you need to know about this family-run Portuguese label.
When sisters Sonia and Claudia Rocha first started the brand, they already had over 30 years experience in specialized shirts making. The talented siblings decided to combine the classic techniques they had acquired over the years with their passion for art and fashion to create Wolf & Rita.
Wolf & Rita is very much a family business. The sisters design all the clothes, and Sonia’s photographer husband Carlos Lobo takes care of all their photography. The sisters have claimed that their offspring heavily influence the design of their products, as they try to keep in mind what their own children would love to wear.
Family was also the inspiration for the name of the brand itself. ‘Wolf’ is the English translation of Sonia’s husband’s last name – Lobo. And Rita is the name of her daughter.
Wolf & Rita’s clothes are produced using only locally sourced and sustainable materials. The area of Portugal that they originate from, Guimarães, is renowned for the number of high quality textile suppliers that exist there. The founders are committed to showing their support for the local community.
With that in mind, they can proudly label all their garments as 100% made in Portugal.
The brand has already received the ‘Rising Star’ award from kid’s trade show Bubble London. And we have no doubt that other awards are to follow, as this brand makes its presence known in the international kidswear market.
We’re more than a little obsessed with their new A/W 2017 collection ‘No More Boring Art’, thus titled due to the range being inspired by the works of artists such as John Baldessari, Eduardo Matos, and Shoji Mueda. Claudia and Sonia have also branched into adult fashion with this collection, so the entire family can be kitted out in Wolf & Rita.
